Sweet Relief Compassionate Center Dispensary Profile
I’m going to get right to the point by stating that Sweet Relief Compassionate Center is — without a single doubt in my mind– one of the best, if not the very best that Bakersfield and the surrounding areas has to offer patients in terms of impeccable medicinial marijuana; all strains are of the in-door variety (with the majority if not all handled in-house), all are tended and handled properly, and the flushing and cursing are superb in my experience. These guys are obviously extremely skilled when it comes to cultivating and it shows in the level of quality and front-to-back knowledge showcased by the staff. Sweet Relief really does loom large over many of the other medical cannabis clinics that I’ve had the pleasure (or displeasure in many cases) of visiting–sourcing the medication themselves directly is such a huge benefit on all avenues, especially when what is produced is on this level of quality. Finding Sweet Relief’s clinic is a relatively quick and easy process; the same can be said for registering, checking-in and ultimately, gaining entry to the medication room, where a vast collection of premium buds await.
I’ve already stated that the quality of the medication is incredible across the board; and it’s quite the board, with a seemingly endless amount of different strains available at your fingertips. By seemingly endless I really mean that it’s closer to roughly thirty or forty strains at any given time that are housed within the walls of Sweet Relief. Close your eyes and randomly pick out a sampling of premium weed, it’s going to be just about that simple regardless of the quantity on hand. One of my favorites here is BOG; the genetics and backstory are shrouded in mystery with regards to specifics, but generally speaking, you’re looking at a well-balanced, deep indica that never manages to plunge too deeply into unconsciousness, making it the perfect accompaniment for those in need of that pain relief and body relaxation provided by indicas but without causing one to melt into a dreamstate. That in and of itself makes this a constant in the medicinal rotation. Visuals are off the charts; you’re looking at an explosion of deep, vibrant greens and fiery oranges, offset by a thick coating of shimmering trichomes. It’s a great looking example of what top notch marijuana should look like. The smell is a unique mixture of a woodlike cedar and chestnut undercut by some faint floral tones and dark, sweet fruit. Great stuff, and the flavor profile follows suit, but the dark fruit notes and cedar take the forefront. Slightly bitter and sharp citrus as well. This is a flagship strain at Sweet Relief and it’s that easy to see why. I highly recommend the BOG.
The rest of the menu is usually stacked with indicas, from the real-deal DJ Short Blueberry (the flavor and smell is off the charts with this one — one of the all-time best tasting strains when grown properly and of course, that’s the case at this particular dispensary) to batches of impeccably grown Larry OG, to the frost-laden, true to it’s name Grape Ape, there should be no excuse for coming out unsatisfied with this kind of line-up. The Sour Banana Sherbert is massive on all levels, originating from Crockett Family Farms and released by DNA Genetics, this one needs to be scooped up and tried first hand to experience the effectiveness of such a strain. This bud just emanates the aroma of gasoline, sour lemon-lime, and creamy tropical fruit (melons, mangos, apricots) and banana; the taste is literally the same which is incredible. Effects are characterized by a powerful, euphoria cerebral high that quickly travels through the body where the power shifts quickly to a deep physical “euphoria.” This Sour Banana Sherbert is supreme and a perfect example of the power of elite genetics when grown properly.
The AK-47 is another old school classic strain with sativa origins; mind-bending and perfect for creative recreation and stimulation. Art, music, working out, and writing are all enhanced greatly by this particular variety. Visually, lime green leaves are coated with a layer of glimmering trichomes. Fat calyxes covered in resinous frost, with a distinct sandalwood smell and flavor profile. Skunky notes hit upon exhalation and linger. Potent, but clearheaded with a tendency to stretch out and linger; there’s definitely a noticeable impact on time and space. As I said previously, everything I’ve ever tried at Sweet Relief has been top notch, premium bud.
Experimentation abounds, and the Green Force — a Green Crack and Skywalker OG cross– , the Purple Lightning– a head-crushingly cerebral cross between Trainwreck and OG Kush — and Grapefruit x Headband serve to solidify the distinctiveness of the stock at Sweet Relief as well as the impressive arsenal of sativas (and sativa dominant hybrids) gracing the shelves. You can not go wrong with the selections here — which are vast in scope to be quite honest– and the budtenders and staff are very helpful as well as being extremely well versed in the process of cultivation and growing first-hand. Contenders are few and far between when it comes to my list of favorite medical marijuana dispensaries, collectives, and cooperatives and Sweet Relief Compassionate Center is amongst those personal, select few. What more can I say? You’re doing yourself a major disservice passing one of my all-time favorite cannabis clinics up.
