1313 Collective Dispensary Profile
1313 Collective is incredible. I know it might be strange to start this review off with such a bold statement but it’s the complete and honest truth. That word is not one that I ever take lightly and rarely actually apply, but in this case there’s really no other term that fits the bill so perfectly. “Compassion” and “Excellence” are both redefined by 1313. In my experience I’ve always been treated with warmth and respect, been privy to some of the best patient deals that I’ve ever come across in the medical marijuana scene, and indulged in some of the finest concentrates in all of Southern California (and all while relaxing in their cozy and plush patient lounge). This place is truly one of the crowning jewels in all of California when it comes to delivering the type of patient experience that I’ve always honestly wished for (and have now found on a consistent basis due to my location). 1313 Collective is easily accessible by those in Orange County and surrounding areas, as it is conveniently located in Santa Ana at –you guessed it– 1313 First St. (the building itself is clearly marked as well as being across from a Department of Motor Vehicles office making it a breeze to find).
After a quick and painless registration/verification and check-in, access to the smoking lounge and display room is granted and upon entry one can make use of a large variety of vaporizers and smoking utensils to sample one’s preferred meds. Large, plush couches are on hand and are to be fully utilized for maximum enjoyment and/or relaxation. The deals and discounts are numerous, rotating and shifting on a daily basis with just some examples being 10% off deals, free grams of cannabis, free glassware and pipes for first time patients, and a bundle of surprisingly good strains for ten dollars a gram. There are many more deals and specials of course, but let it be known that they are all worth your while (from what I’ve seen).
With that said, what good is a discount or special if the quality of the marijuana is not up to snuff? As I stated earlier, there is no need to worry about that when stepping into 1313 Collective as their medication on-hand is not only connoisseur-grade but priced at very generous rates (rarely will donations top $45 for an 1/8th of medicine); I found it shocking that I was able to find herb of this level of quality at such low prices given that I’m familiar with a fair share of other collectives and clinics in Southern California just by itself. For example, on my latest excursion to 1313 my attention was immediately drawn to a sativa dominant strain by the name of Red Bull which I’ve never encountered before (possibly a Bullrider cross but I’m only speculating at this moment). The look of this strain catches the eye, as the dark red hairs contrast sharply with the shimmering, crystal-coated buds. Red Bull is also graced by a unique, mouth-watering scent that first hits with an initial burst of tropical fruitiness, heavy with overtones of melon, that gives way to a slightly sour lemon grass smell tempered by the subtle notes of spicy ginger and musk. I’ve never smelled anything like it before, and as I had hoped, the actual taste of the Red Bull followed along the same lines as the smell, making for an immensely pleasurable vapor session. The effects hit upon exhale, with an initial cerebral warmth that washes over into a kind of calming euphoria. In this case introspection trumps any type of intense mindbending qualities that are reminiscent of some sativa strains. The calmness never slows to a lag, making this example of marijuana one of the best for all-day usage. There is an excellent balance here that just makes this a superb all-around strain that is certain to prove effective for alleviating depression, anxiety, and appetite stimulation.
Another standout sativa at 1313 Collective is the Blue Queen, an exotic that is coated with an abundance of frosty trichomes and peppered with light, almost cream-colored orange hairs. The bud itself is solid in structure, and the smell is intensely sweet and berry-like. The flavor carries over, but is smoothed out by a mellow-creaminess that is reminiscent of a 50/50 ice cream bar. There is no harshness to be found on the exhale and the effects cause an instant head-change that is potent and dreamlike, producing a kind of floating and drifting relaxation without sacrificing any kind of potency. This is easily one of my favorite smokes and another example of just the kind of quality of herb that is brought to the MMJ community at large by the people at 1313 Collective.
1313 really shines in the concentrate department as they carry an extensive amount of full-melt hashes, oils, waxes, budders, Co2 extracts, and kief, a collection of potent extracts that is hard to beat in terms of variety and quality from my experience. The hashes are all beautiful, with caviar full-melts and chunks of soft, pliable highly potent bubble hash enticing at every turn. Full-melts actually fully melt into puddles of oil and the sweet taste and smell are unbeatable. One of the standouts at 1313 is the King Co2 extracted budder. This stable budder is of extreme potency as these types of extracts easily contain off the charts levels of THC (with values usually starting at roughly 80% pure THC to the mid-upper 90’s depending on the quality). Indeed, it’s almost purely THC so the intensity and potency is unmatched. Even tiny dabs of this concentrate will provide for quite the experience. Cerebral effects are of incredible intensity and euphoria, clean yet “stoney.” Some of the most potent and quality concentrates are housed at 1313, and for me, this might be my favorite quality about this collective which is saying a lot considering that 1313 consists of pure quality in all respects.
